Deleting files over a network

No matter what back up I had, I deleted the entire documentary by mistake on the network drive and now I can’t find it anyway. This is a huge overlook that still we face in share folders in Microsoft Windows environment. I don’t know Continue reading Deleting files over a network

Is technology making you dumber?

Do you remember writing a letter on a piece of paper to a friend during the last few weeks? How about texting or calling that friend during the last few hours? What is the last time you used spell check on a typing software like MS Word? What is the last time you pick up a printed encyclopedia to find information for a school/work paper? Forget about going to the library and picking up the Encyclopedia Britannica because after 200+ years of printing the book in March 2012, the publishers decided they will only issue electronic/digital editions of Britannica. But this is not the scenario for all the items available electronically. This paper will specifically address the issue of distractions related to technological tools. Documentary: 1000 Ways to Die

This is a documentary review…

Title: 1000 Ways to Die
Directed by: Tom McMahon
Original channel: Spike
Type: TV Series
Country: USA
Year: 2008 – current
Website: web | wiki

Opinion: Well this is very entreating because this is a docudrama rather than just a documentary. While some docudramas targeted towards educated middle class, this seems to be targeted towards an under educated society. Why you ask? The narrator is cheesy and the narration and the acting itself has been over exaggerated. Almost all the time, the victim is depicted as a bad person, but in reality this may not be the case. Not only the topic is not a very strong one, but also the whole series has very little to no educational value. Continue reading Documentary: 1000 Ways to Die

Validity of documentaries

This site will now include reviews and critical analysis of documentary films combining my passionate hobbies of developing servers with watching documentaries. Since I was a about 16 years of age, my dad has been encouraging us to be critical thinkers. It benefits in two ways; when I have to write a science report I can analyze the data better and also it help me view the information on modern day media from the traditional hard copy newspapers and radio broadcasts to modern day Internet and television from a critical independent view point. Some documentaries I watched had questionable facts and information. It got me thinking the validity of facts in documentary films.

When people read, hear or see the word “documentary”, often they assumed the information contained in this specific genre to be factual. Out of millions of documentaries produced over the last 50 years in several different countries, I found most of the documentaries are not about facts but rather about specific opinions or propaganda. Even most popular scientific documentaries are based on bias view of the sponsors, production company, director and/or society. Continue reading Validity of documentaries
