There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

About

This website is maintain for the purpose of testing and running web based applications and scripts in HTTP, FTP and other protocols. Currently this is a testing site for the IIS 7 web system on the server. There are several components currently loaded on to the sever that includes, but not limited to IIS 7, Java, PHP, MySQL, SQL, Python, Wordpress(Blog), PS3 UPnP, Hyper-V, RDS modules and roles. If you would like to know more about my network and server system, please click here. If you would like to keep in touch with any new development of my projects, you are welcome to read my blog.

Why ?

This is the most common question I get from some of my friends. Why do I need a high end server? Why do I need all of these equipments at the first place? The answer to that question is no, I don't need them, but I want them. Like some people like to collect stamps, my hobby is to collect servers and develop them with skills I acquire from self learning. This is my hobby and I intend to have a server cluster for as long as I can afford. I DO NOT earn money off of any of my servers nor will I ever. Those of you who roll your eyes and say this is stupid, look at your collection of power tools, or your nice car or how much money you wasted on alcohol. How come that's not stupid?

Future expansion

I have plans for future expansion. Currently I do not have Unix or Linux servers and I am planning to load them on two different computers and load VM Ware on another one in near future. I will also spend more time writing my own scripts and testing them out on all systems.

General FAQ

Q: Why this website is plain looking?
A: Two reasons: The first one is that I do not have the time to make this site dynamic. The second would be this is a mobile friendly website and I do not want to load a another site folder with mobile friendly pages.

Q: What happen to your old website that ran from 2004 to 2010?
A: I took it down because I used that as a web design project since I was 14 years old. My hobby has grown past that stage at this time.

Q: What are the main areas of web developments?
A: In my personal opinion, there are three sides: network infrastructure, server systems, web design/development and deployment. The easy of the all three is the last one, web design and deployment. I spent a lot of time working on my own site, volunteering and making sites for companies when I was young. This is all design and development. Now I am in to the server system development area. This is the most exciting part because there are a lot of things you can do with your server. The PHP web language is similar to a programming language like Java more than it is to HTML. Anyway, the network infrastructure is depend on the ISP and most of us have no control over it.

Q: Why not use a CMS to load all your data from a database with all the flexibility?
A: I don't like this method because of two reasons: First would be that there is no way to take full control over how databases and the associated materials. Two, I have to learn how to use whatever the CMS I choose and if I decided, I don't like it, I have to remove it and learn a new one all over again. This is why I am working on the style sheets so that I can change the entire side with one style sheet similar how CMS operates.

Autobiography

The site administrator, Sanuja Senanayake is a budding geologist who is no stranger to web design and server development. He has more than eight years of web designing experience. He was drawn to the limitless possibilities of the world wide web and information technology in 2003 while he was in a junior high school computer course. Since there was no regulated program for computer course and it was considered as an option class, he self taught the Hypertext Markup Language(HTML). Today, he has experience in CSS, Python, Java, JavaScipts, PHP, XHTML, DHTML and several server side programming/designing languages. After using third party web hosting companies for convenience, he built his first server in 2006. In 2010 he used an old computer to install Fedora Red Hat server OS and self taught the terminal core functions during the summer school breaks. From 2004 to this day he has been developing servers and websites for non profit organizations as well as for an engineering company, Insight Engineering Services. In October 2011, he brought his first dedicated a server hardware, which is currently the Server I of his system.

Web and sever development is the favourite hobby for Sanuja Senanayake, who also enjoys life long learning of many other subjects such as math, physics, chemistry and geology.

In 2010 he entered University of Calgary to pursue a degree in Geology with the concentration in Petroleum Geology from the Faculty of Science. His ambition is to work in a geo technical company as a geologist.
